History of illustration

Since my blog is going to be about illustration, I thought It'd be great to talk about the history.

Definition of ilustration is a displaye visualization form presented s a drawing, painting, photograph or other work of art that is creted to dlucidate or dictate sunsual inforation (such as a story, poem or newspaper article) by providding a visual representation graphically.

The first illustrations were cave paintings in Europe. The purpose of the cave paintings is not known.
Some people say that they may have been a way of communicating with others.
They mostly painted large animals like horses and deer.

In the Middle Ages, illustrations were used on books. Books were made working over coat or cow leather and using the "illumination" technique.

In 1851, artist Edmund Evans and Kate Greenaway began to print children's toy books and picture books.
That's when they first started using color in illustrations.

The book illustration art was on the peak of its popularity in the 19th century.
It's called "the golden age of illustration".
Improvements in printing technology helped illustrators to experiment with color and new rendering techniques. Many illustrators in this time became rich and famous.

Today, illustration is more than just advertising products and tranfering information. Illustrations are becoming valued as popular and profitable art works especially in South Korea, Japan, and Hong Kong
